Making a Federal Nightstand

Side Table

July 24 ~ August 3, 2018
Monday ~ Friday (9 AM to 5 PM) Two Weeks
Instructor: Philip Lowe
Tuition: $1500.00 plus materials

This is a great project that includes a number of techniques that will help you to hone your skills and bring them to another level. Phil on the first day will do a full-size layout of the nightstand and show how a cut list is developed. Parts of the nightstand will be partially prepared to move things along a little bit quicker. Students will bring parts to their finish dimensions and will learn mortise & tenon joints as well as dovetails in a systematic way that will help you to move quickly through the project. The legs will be inlaid with a rectangular panel and surrounded with stringing. The lower tambour door parts will be glued to canvas to create a flexible door that will run in a curved track and the drawer will be veneered and surrounded with the banding and edging. This is a great opportunity to work alongside a master furniture maker that's been at it for more than 45 years.
